Love Andrew’s books (and Danny!)

Danny Meditating DANNY MEDITATING

Today, we’re sitting down with the authors Andrew Joyce and Danny the Dog for a joint interview, so without further ado, let’s get started.

Thank you for agreeing to do this interview.

AJ: It’s a pleasure to be here.

DD: Me too.

Tell me a little about yourselves and your backgrounds?

AJ: I’m a writer, which surprises me greatly. For the first three years of my writing career, I never referred to myself as a writer. It was only when the royalties started coming in and I could quit my day job that I dared think of myself as such.

DD: I’m a dog.

What book or books have had a strong influence on you and/or your writing?

AJ: The works of Louis L’Amour and Robert B. Parker.

DD: The genius writings of Danny the Dog.

AJ: Excuse me…

10 Learnings Over 4 Years of Publishing

One of my very favorite authors sharing with us

...and then there was Sarah

Become-a-writerI published my first book, St. Charles at Dusk, on September 26th, 2011. Four years have passed, and with them, more learnings than I could ever fully wrap my mind around. In those early days, I was a woman alone on an island, getting all my advice from Google. I didn’t know a single other author who had published their work.

Flash forward four years. I’m no longer a woman alone on an island, but one surrounded by hundreds of authors, thousands of readers, and years of experience (with many years still ahead). I have seventeen original titles out (and numerous boxed sets), and an endless quantity of ideas. I’ve been lauded by esteemed authors, and appeared on the USA Today Bestsellers list, twice. I’m nowhere near an expert, and far from perfect. I’ve had successes and setbacks, like any author, and I move forward knowing I’ll have more of both…

BROOK SONGS a poem by Bette A. Stevens

Bette A. Stevens, Maine Author

BROOK SONGS poem by basInspired by nature, I love to walk to down the brook. It’s only a quarter-mile from “The Farmstead” here in Central Maine and no matter the weather or season, the sights and sounds of the water and the abundance of nature’s bounty always manage to refresh my soul and often inspire the writer child within me. The photo for the poem Brook Songs was taken last fall. As the autumn season nears a new dawning, I put pen to paper for a draft before designing the poem on the computer. ~ Bette A. It occurred to me that I had only posted this on my Facebook page and not on this blog and I wanted to share it here as well. Even though 9/11 has passed, we should always remember.

Ten Things to Pass Up Even if on Discount

This made me start my Monday with a giggle

Fiction Favorites

for sale

This list is inspired by watching some of the funny things people buy solely because they are being offered at a discounted price. I’ve taken the list to extremes (which I’m sure you have come to understand to by now) but the spirit still lives.

Top Ten Things to Pass Up Even if on Discount

10 Even on discount do not purchase cut-rate bungee jumping lessons. If you do, at best you will only be scared poopless. At worst, your family will be wondering what you were thinking as they hold a memorial for your three-foot tall body. (Not to mention that you are six feet wide as well)

9 Even on discount do not purchase cut-rate meat. If you do, at best you will only miss a couple of days work. At worst, you will be one of morbidity statistics as the USDA issues a countrywide recall of the…

LEGENDS OF WINDEMERE: THE MERCHANT OF NEVRA COIL IS LIVE! #fantasy

Legends of Windemere

Cover art by Jason Pedersen Cover art by Jason Pedersen

When the mischievous and random Goddess of Chaos gets angry, all of Windemere becomes her plaything.

It all starts with a collection of toys that have taken the populace by storm. People of all races flood the marketplaces to gather figurines of the champions whose adventures are starting to spread across the land. Stemming from the flying city of Nevra Coil, these toys bring with them a terrible curse: Fame. Every town becomes a mob of fans that hound their new idols and the delay is bringing the world closer to the hands of Baron Kernaghan. Perhaps worst of all, the creator of these toys forgot to include a certain exiled deity who is now out to earn herself a figurine.

Who would have thought a bunch of toys could cause so much trouble and lead to the breaking of a champion’s confidence?

Sound exciting?

Romancing September Across the World – Day 7 – Pamela Beckford

Stephanie Hurt - Romance Author

Good morning everyone! I want to welcome you to the 2nd part of Day 7 of the 3rd Annual Romancing September Across the World Blog Tour. If you haven’t checked out Rosie’s post from earlier, then go by https://rosieamber.wordpress.com/ and get caught up.

Now on to today’s featured author, Pamela Beckford

Here’s the question I asked:

What has been the biggest inspiration for your writing?

– Personal experiences have given me a lot of inspiration. But the biggest inspiration has been observing life and love around me and having my heart so filled that it needs an outlet. Poetry has been that outlet.

Here’s a little bit about today’s author:

Pamela Beckford

I started writing poetry in 2013 and haven’t stopped since. It is still hard to think of myself as a poet (or a writer), but I am.  I find that writing poetry has been a great release for me. I…
