Whispered Intimacies (cinquain)

I really enjoy the “quains”. This poem is a Cinquain and follows the 2-4-6-8-2 pattern. There is also a triquain and oddquain that are fun to work with.

Sorry, ladies. The NFL hates you!

Certainly this has absolutely nothing to do with poetry. But I think this was a well written piece on the poor handling of the Ray Rice suspension. Women deserve so much better than this. Give this a read.

I’ll be the first to admit it, I love the NFL. Sadly, the NFL doesn’t love me back. Do you want to know why? I’m pretty sure the fact that I have a vagina is the crux of the problem. The relationship first started to deteriorate last year when Roger Goodell announced the purse ban, which clearly wasn’t directed at the penis having contingency of the fan base. Feel free to bring a sandwich bag exposing any potential contraband, as if you’re starring in an episode of “Orange is the New Black”, but don’t you dare bring a purse. The message was pretty clear, in my opinion… My adorable $40 NFL endorsed jersey handbag I’d just purchased the previous season was no longer welcome and neither was I. Obviously, I should be hanging out at Target on Sundays shopping the circular sales anyways. My mistake, NFL.

These poems certainly have a lot of emotion within in.  As the title makes clear, they’re all love poems, but there is still a good amount of variety.  You have some that are sweet, some are passionate, and others that seem to be toward a lover who went away for one reason or another.  The different styles make each poem unique and I like that there is an explanation of each style in the back, so the book doubles as an instructional guide.

Muse

The Tetractys is a 1-2-3-4-10 syllable form

Muse (tetractys)

You
My muse
My lover
My fantasy
My inspiration, my motivation

You (tetractys)

Here is a poem from ‘Love: Lost and Found’. You can purchase the entire collection of over 90 poems featuring over a dozen different forms by clicking here. A tetractys follows 1-2-3-4-10 syllable count. This particular one incorporates a reverse tetractys as well. This was written for my dear friends Ionia and Julian. And since I know there are together again for a few short weeks, I thought I would post it for them.

You
Make me
So happy
Such contentment
By your side I’m satisfied beyond words
Your love fulfills my wildest hopes and dreams
Kiss me goodnight
I want you
Always
Yes

As One (Etheree)

One
Touch me
My darling
Make love with me
Expressions of love
Passion ignites desire
Climbing higher and higher
Let’s reach the pinnacle in sync
My life is complete when we’re together
Tell me you love me for e’er and a day

This poem can be found in Love: Lost and Found which can be purchased as a paperback or downloaded for Kindle. It is also available on Kindle Unlimited

Love: Lost and Found by Pamela Beckford (Blog Tour!)

Awwwww thanks. She has written her own books – Reave and just released Elude. I’ve read Reave and it was quite good. Elude is on my TBR pile.

Alone (double cinquain)

Alone

So incomplete

Gazing at the moonlight

Wondering just when you’ll be here

Nearby

With me

To start our lives

Never to leave again

Becoming whole and not just half

As one

Pamela has written a second collection of love poems. Poetry is an expression from deep within the soul. It can be therapeutic and healing. It can bring out all the best or the worst in life. Her poetry comes from the heart, not the head. It is an outpouring of emotion and she exposes it to…

Summer’s Breeze

Summer’s Breeze

Your fingers slide across my skin
Like a summer’s breeze
Your lips linger on my chin
You are such a tease

Your hands caress my face
With a soft and gentle touch
Your eyes follow mine with grace
You escalate desire so much

Your arms wrap around my waist
With a lover’s touch I’m whirled
Your heart beats as if being chased
You have become my world
