Fairy tales and magic wands
Princes on majestic steeds
Evil step sisters with hair so blonde
Trolls and gnomes doing good deeds
Fluttering silver gilded wings
Fairies spinning flax into gold
Ball gowns and magic mirrors
Princesses with wishes to behold
Thoughts of happily ever afters
Awakened with the prince’s kisses
Now vanished are those dreams
I’m left with only near misses

I think it’s rather easy to recapture the magic of fairy tales. The idea that we grow out of them is soooo immature. 😛
But happily ever afters don’t just magically appear – time and effort must be put into adult relationships
I never really thought of them as magically appearing in fairy tales either. There’s usually some conflict that leads up to it, right?

This poem about Fairy Tales reminds me of the idealism we loose over a lifetime and the beautiful innocence of youth. Read more of Pamela’s Reflective poetry!
Wonderful Poem! Thank You, what a marvelous way to start my day 🙂
Thank you
Near misses are as good as they are frustrating, I suppose. But as long as hope exists…
Lovely poem, Pamela. 🙂
Thank you Linda
Little girls dream of princes and magic; grown up girls give up on their dreams?
🙂
I’m not into poetry although I do read and understand some. I like this one.
I don’t think it is that big girls give up. I think big girls settle. I think big girls are disappointed when their prince doesn’t just ride up and rescue them. Glad you liked this
🙂
I remember getting completely lost in fairy tales. They seemed real enough to me. Thanks for the evocative lines, Pamela.
I did believe once. I can’t anymore. Tales maybe but fairy tales – no. I believe they are there and some people find them and some do not. I am the latter.
That’s sad. I still believe in fairy tales. I just think real life happens a bit differently.
I want to comment but I will be such a hypocrite. I’m going to smile silently.
You? Quiet?

Maybe that is ‘real’ life, or near misses? I loved it.
Thank you. But always believe.
Beautiful as always. Really proud of you too…by the way! 🙂 I can’t help myself but to believe!!

It wasn’t as hard as you thought it would be, was it…
No but i think I’d do it differently next time.
I hope you will do it again. It’s great fun. I really enjoying reading all the other people who have linked their poems too 🙂

fairy tails and romance are essential ingredients for developing a fertile imagination. I do like the idea of near misses.
Thank you.
I really like the rhythm of this poem, lends itself well to the fairytale theme. 🙂

I like the twist at the end.
Thank you. I always believe
Unfortunately, life isn’t a fairy tale. But that doesn’t mean that we have to outgrow our dreams!
Always hope and believe!
Ha! Fantastic! I hope you find the magic in all your near misses. Cheers!
Beautifully thought – yes, a different world that we would like to believe in – and secretly will always do.
And truly I hope everyone always believes.

Fairy tales, like most other stories, are all about perspective and personal interpretation. This is a fun read, I enjoyed it.

Sometimes i think..there can be decades of near misses..
But with continued HOPE..and simply living HOPE MOrE…
Fairly tales do come TRUE..
