Winter Winds

Winds whistle and howl
Snow covers the fields and roads
Weather not fit for beast or fowl
Take cover in your abodes

A warm fire and cup of cocoa
A book to finish and then another
Time means nothing as it comes and goes
Quilts and blankets there for covers

Fall fades into winter’s blast
Winter permeates our bones
We fill ourselves with a giant repast
As the winter winds howl and moan
