What could be better than having a dear friend announce that she is CANCER FREE? Absolutely nothing! Ionia, you have made my day and I am totally thankful for YOU today!
Ionia, the Phoenix
Like a Phoenix she has risen,
The conqueror, the victor.
A mythical creature up from the ashes
Ionia, the defeater.
A renewal of body and spirit,
She kicked cancer to the curb.
A chance for rebirth,
Ionia, the long-lived bird.
She vanquished the demons as
She wears jewels and pearls.
The Phoenix has risen,
Ionia, the goddess of squirrels.
Love you, friend. I just wish I could have written something more worthy of such wonderful news.
This one is even better than the other one!
I’m struggling with formatting tonight. I’ve tried on my laptop and my iPad. Grrrr
Awesomeness!
This is amazing!!!! Naturally, after making my big announcement last night my Internet went down. I’m sorry I’m just now getting here. I love you, Pamela. You make my life a better place every day.

This is such good news! I’m so glad to hear it! š Way to go Ionia!
Really lovely poem, Pamela!
I don’t know how good. But the sentiment was there.
In my humble opinion, a lot of makes poetry good is the sentiment š
Pamela this is a lovely poem. Truly. It speaks if a dear friend from the words and feelings for a dear, caring friend. I can ‘see’ feel the friendship between the two of you!
I think you did a fine job with this. It says so very much with so few words š
Thanks Susan
You are an amazing writer and friend, Pamela. I know that this really touched Ionia’s heart.
